As of my last knowledge update in January 2022, you can download the MetaMask extension for Chrome by following these steps:

1. Open the Chrome Web Store:

   • Open your Google Chrome browser.

2. Search for MetaMask:

   • In the Chrome Web Store, use the search bar to look for "MetaMask."

3. Find the Official Extension:

   • Look for the official MetaMask extension. It's crucial to download the extension from the official source to ensure security.

4. Add to Chrome:

   • Click on the "Add to Chrome" button next to the MetaMask extension.

5. Confirm Installation:

   • A pop-up window will appear asking for confirmation. Click on "Add Extension" to confirm the installation.

6. Wait for Installation:

   • The MetaMask extension will be added to your Chrome browser. Wait for the installation process to complete.

7. Access MetaMask:

   • Once the installation is complete, you should see the MetaMask icon in your Chrome toolbar.

8. Set Up or Import a Wallet:

   • Click on the MetaMask icon to open the extension.

   • Follow the on-screen instructions to set up a new wallet or import an existing one.

Remember to only download extensions from official sources to avoid potential security risks. Additionally, it's essential to follow the instructions provided during the setup process, including creating a secure password and backing up your seed phrase.
